Tigers turn dreary day bright by rushing past Tar Heels in Indy Bowl

SHREVEPORT, La. — Before leading Missouri on its latest trip to the Independence Bowl, quarterback James Franklin made a salient point about the spotlight that would shine on the Tigers. Missouri was facing North Carolina, a middle-of-the-pack team from the Atlantic Coast Conference but one that’s built with a blueprint taken straight out of MU’s future home, the Southeastern Conference. (Read full story…)

Acting Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator Dave Steckel put his trust in his defense unit when the game was on the line and was rewarded with a last minute interception!

With their backs against the wall, the Mizzou defense made yet another stand inside its own 20 yard line and as a result, the entire team is now bowl eligible! A pass headed for the end zone from Texas Tech QB Seth Doege was swatted from the air and a diving D-Lineman, Michael Sam, made a very athletic play to cradle the ball before it hit the ground. Mizzou finished off the win with 3 kneel downs from the Victory formation!

With the 31-27 take down of Texas Tech, Mizzou is now bowl eligible and primed to face arch rival Kansas, perhaps for the last time, in the annual Border Showdown next weekend at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City. The game will be broadcast on ABC at 2:30pm Central on Saturday, November 26th. With a better bowl game at stake and one last chance to punish the most despised opponent in the Big 12, you can bet the Tigers will be ready to play!
