The recent Black & Gold weekend that included a TQBC Golf Tournament & Auction, the Spring Game where the new Mizzou uniforms were unveiled, and the TQBC Luncheon will long be remembered as an incredible time to be a Tiger!

60 Years of Mizzou Football History!

One of the highlights of the weekend was the number of former players who participated. At the Black & Gold Golf Tournament, there was over 60 Years of Mizzou Football history represented!

The Black & Gold Golf Tournament, and the associated auction, raised over $20,000 in support of the football team; a new record! Thank you to everyone who donated time, resources, and effort to make this event a success. Special thanks to all those who played in the golf tournament and participated in the auction!

Mizzou Equipment Director Don Barnes

The anticipation of seeing the new Nike branded uniforms had Mizzou nation buzzing for the past few months. The response to the unveiling has been very positive, and much excitement has been expressed about the incredible new look and features of the uniforms. It seemed Equipment Director Don Barnes was every where over the past couple of weeks telling the fascinating stories behind the development of the new designs.

Finally, guests at the Black & Gold Luncheon were able to see the new uniforms up close and personal as Mr. Barnes told those in attendance about them. Long time TQBC supporter Chuck Everitt made a surprise appearance as the newest Tiger player! The team donated one of the first new helmets to the club and it was subsequently auctioned off to local real estate broker Vicky Shy. (Thanks for your support, Vicky!)

Coach Pinkel talks about the new uniforms

Coach Pinkel shared his thoughts on the progress of the team, and answered questions about injury updates, the SEC transition, and much more. Coach displayed his passion for Mizzou football once again, and left the membership fired up for the start of another season!

We’d like to express our sincere thanks to everyone involved with all the Black & Gold activities this weekend. The TQBC Board of Directors, along with many volunteers, did an amazing job with the golf tournament despite some weather issues. Many people at Mizzou were also instrumental in helping with the tournament and arranging for former players to participate. Thank you for your help!

Thanks to Mizzou Equipment Manager Don Barnes and his team for bringing a set of the new Mizzou Football uniforms designed by Nike! The general consensus was that they are an amazing upgrade and will help further the Mizzou brand starting next season.

In a surprise twist, special guest model Chuck Everitt wore the alternative version of the uniforms!

Coach Pinkel shared his thoughts on the spring practice game, the new uniforms, and some staffing additions to help the team compete in the SEC.

 The Online Silent Auction, held in conjunction with the 2012 Black & Gold Golf Tournament, will start at 2pm on Friday, April 13th. Bidding may close at any time, so make sure to get your bid in early for the item(s) you’d like. The proceeds of this event will go to support Mizzou Football and Athletics.

If you’d like to participate, here are the instructions for doing so:

1. Click on Events tab at the top of any page on the TQBC website starting at 2pm on 4/13/12
2. Click on Silent Auction
3. View auction items. When you wish to bid on an auction item, click Bid Now
4. Enter your credentials under the picture of the auction item, and the price you wish to bid. Then click Bid Now
5. Your bid will show on the Right hand side of the screen under Current Bids.
6. When the auction closes, the top bidders will get an email notification with links to a payment page.

A preliminary list of items that will be available in the silent and online auctions at the upcoming 2012 Black & Gold Golf Tournament has been released. Additional items will likely be added prior to the event. Auction information will be announced very soon. Please join us at the Club at Old Hawthorne for the Auction and Social Hour beginning at 4pm on Friday, April 13th.

Of course, Coach Haith and his team insisted the seeding didn’t matter. Prior to the announcement Haith mentioned they would be happy as long as they were able to play the first round games in either Omaha, NE or St. Louis, MO. Two CBS prognosticators have selected Mizzou to make the Final 4. I wouldn’t want to be in the path of this team!

In their final appearance of the Big 12 Conference Men’s Basketball tournament, the Mizzou Tigers dominated the field, winning all 3 games by double digits, and positioned themselves for a possible #1 seed in the NCAA basketball tournament.

It was an impressive performance, made all the more so because only 7 players are on scholarship, and 2 starters (Kim English and Marcus Denomon) battled through injuries suffered in the semifinals. For their efforts, Phil Pressey and Kim English were named Big 12 All-Tournament First Team performers!

Many Mizzou fans expressed great satisfaction in winning this final basketball tournament before the school moves to the SEC next year.
